Customers trust Costco to deliver high quality food from responsible suppliers. Although Costco claims to care about customer sustainability concerns, your supply chain tells a different story.

Costco meat comes from some of the most environmentally destructive suppliers in the entire food industry—Cargill, JBS, and Tyson Foods. Cargill and JBS played lead roles in driving the devastating fires in the Amazon last summer, and all three are responsible for widespread water pollution, soil erosion, and runaway climate emissions.

Every contract Costco signs with these destructive companies condemns future generations to a world of climate chaos and broken ecosystems. But you have the power to change that through more responsible business practices.

Indigenous peoples who depend on forests have had their land encroached upon by Cargill-linked soy plantations in Brazil. They have been forced off of their traditional lands and have experienced sharp increases in cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, and other illnesses linked to pesticides and herbicides used to grow soy – often sprayed by planes directly overhead.

Our planet can't wait any longer. A Feature Documentary

WE ARE AT A CRITICAL MOMENT

Recent spikes in fires and deforestation coupled with dangerous increases in global temperature leave the Amazon Rainforest, an incomparable force of climate stability, rainfall and carbon storage, at risk of being lost forever. Add to the mix a government administration deadset on developing extractive industries, no matter the cost, and we are left in crisis.

Through the Smoke, the feature documentary, is a deep dive into the issues at the heart of this crisis. The film is central to the One Amazon Impact Campaign which includes a series of short films, fundraising events, and an extensive, educational online portal. This project is much more than a feature film.
